A bad website could use a bug in the part that runs website code (V8) of Chrome to run its own code on your computer. Attackers were already using it. Google fixed it in Chrome 153.0.8010.36. Edge is built on the same code and got the same fix. Both update themselves, but only after you restart the browser.
