Google moved Chrome to version 157 on November 3, 2026. It fixes 213 security bugs, and seven are rated 'Critical', which means a bad web page could take over parts of your computer. Google says the update rolls out over the coming days and weeks, and it only works after you close and re-open Chrome.

How to fix it
- Open Chrome.
- Click the three dots at the top right > Help > About Google Chrome.
- Wait while Chrome gets the update. If it says Chrome is up to date on 156, check again in a day or two, since Google sends it out slowly.
- Click Relaunch.
- Check that the version number is 157.0.8103.38 or higher.
